Amy Hallam
Artistic Director, Choreographer, Dancer & Workshop Leader

Amy started as a competative gymnast at an early age and began dancing at the age of 9. She studied at Pendleton College and went on to continue her training at the prestigious Northern School of Contemporary Dance graduating with a BA Honours in Contemporary Dance in 2012. Amy has worked with various choreographers/companies such as Resonance Dance Company, Sharon Watson and Gavin Rees Dance. Amy became an aerialist at Wired Aerial Theatre in 2014 and continues to perform internationally as part of their large scale outdoor production 'As The World Tipped'; touring destinations including Europe, Asia and South America.

Amy co- founded Tangled Dance Company in 2013 and choreographed her first outdoor production in 2014 'Once Upon A Twisted Tale'. Amy has continued to expand the company as a Director, Choreographer, Workshop leader  and Dancer and continues to lead the company in new exciting ventures.

Vicky Eccleston
Project Manager, Costume &
Set Designer & Photographer

Vicky studied Art and Design at Salford Technical College, following her training she became Head Fashion Designer at two Manchester companies, designing clothing ranges for leading highstreet stores in the UK (1978 – 1989). In 1993 Vicky established her own clothing design company RazzleDazzle Designs, initially producing bespoke children’s wear and later exclusive Gymnastic and Dancewear.

Vicky’s design skills expanded to include other materials such as wood, metal and found objects, exploring upcycling through independant projects since 2009. Vicky’s inspiration stemmed from the movement of fabric and its relationship to dance.

 

Vicky began collaborating with the Artistic Director in 2011 on various projects, exploring the combination of the two artforms. Vicky co- founded the company in 2013, working as Project Manager and has designed

and produced all the Costumes

and Props for all Tangled

productions. Vicky is also an

enthusiastic Dance

Photographer and was part

of  the creation of our unique

Twisted Tale Workshops.

 

Vicky’s eclectic skill set is a

huge asset to the company

and fundamental in

establishing our unique brand.

Paul Davies
Dancer & Workshop Leader

Paul trained at The Northern School of Contemporary Dance, graduating with a First Class Degree in 2015. Paul went on to complete an apprenticeship with Motionhouse Dance Theatre, touring over 2015-2016 and teaching for Motionhouse Youth company. Paul also delivered classes and workshops at Northern School of Contemporary Dance to BPA 1 and 2 students.

 

Paul has performed works by Kevin Finnan ‘Captive’ and ‘Broken’, Tino Seghal ‘Kiss’, Dam Van Huynh ‘(Im)Pulse’, Charlotte Spencer ‘Is This A Wasteland’.

 

Paul joined Tangled Dance Company in 2016 as a dancer on the Once Upon A Twisted Tale tour and the Whispers Of A Christmas Tale production.

Georgie Abbott
Dancer

Georgie began dancing at the age of 14, later going on to study dance at Oldham College. Georgie was successful in achieving a place at The Northern School of Contemporary dance, where she worked with choreographers such as Silja Thompson, Riccardo Meneghini and Sonia Rodriguez. After graduating in 2012 she went on to complete a PGCE at the University of Huddersfield in 2013 and began teaching Dance at Oldham College shortly after.

 

Georgie also works as an independent dance artist, working on collaborative projects with Amy and the Tangled team. Georgie became a member of Tangled Dance Company in 2013 and continues to perform as part of the Once Upon A Twisted Tale production and Spilled Ink performances.

Maddie Shimwell
Dancer

Maddie trained at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts from age 14-19 receiving a Diploma in Dance & BA Hons in Professional Practice (Arts). She went on to complete a Postgraduate Apprenticeship through The Northern School of Contemporary Dance, with Company Chameleon in 2016.

 

Maddie went on to tour various pieces with Company Chameleon, including ‘Witness This’(2017), ‘Illuminate’(2017) and ‘10’ (2018) touring in Africa. Maddie also performs as part of a collaborative piece with Kevin Turner ‘My Sisters Scarf’(2019).

 

Maddie has also performed works by Richard Chappell Dance ‘The Vast Rocks’(2013), & ‘Unto the Ground’ (2014) and Chrysalis London ‘Rise’(2015/2016), ‘Pure’ (2016) & ‘Nymph’ (2018).

 

Maddie joined Tangled Dance Company in 2019 as a dancer in the leading female role of Frosted by Magic.

Helen McCarron
Dancer

Helen trained at The Northern School of Contemporary Dance, completing the BPA Hons Degree, where she worked with a range of well established choreographers including Alexander Whitley, Andrea Buckley, Simon Birch and Jose Agudo.

 

After graduating, Helen joined 12 Degrees North Dance Company performing works by Lea Anderson, James Wilton and Filip Van Huffle, touring venues around the North West of England.

 

Helen's work as a freelance artist includes performing with China Pearl Chinese Dance Company and Yorkshire Life Aquatics. Helen also works on independent choreography projects including ‘Shall we dance’ commissioned as part of Flux Festival Liverpool 2014, ‘The Runway’ an interactive live performance and ‘Give Peace a Dance’ commissioned by 12 Degrees North Dance Company.

 

Helen joined Tangled Dance Company in 2016 as a dancer on the Once Upon A Twisted Tale tour and in Spilled Ink.

Anikó Tóth
Actress & Musician; Vocalist

Anikó was raised singing Hungarian folk music and trained in acting and dance. She has since expanded into various areas of vocals including Opera, Contemporary Classical, Musical Theatre/Pop, Jazz and also works exploring Extended Vocal techniques. Anikó has performed in Los Angeles, Budapest, and the UK; including the Royal Albert Hall, Bridgewater Hall and The Sage @ Gateshead. She has been broadcast on BBC Four, BBC Radio 3 & 4, PBS (USA), and Bartók Rádió (Hungary) with a variety of collaborators, including Meredith Monk and the Hallé Choir. 

 

Anikó joined Tangled Dance Company in summer 2014 for the Once Upon A Twisted Tale tour contributing her eclectic skills to the work, which she continues to suprise us with.

Hannah Burke
Dancer & Workshop Leader

Hannah was born and raised in Bolton and began dancing at Encore School of Dancing age five. During her twelve years there she trained in tap, ballet and modern dance styles and developed her passion and dream to take on dance as a career. Hannah completed her vocational dance training at Northern school of Contemporary Dance, graduating in 2014. Whilst at NSCD she worked with choreographers; Angus Balbernie, Jennifer-Lynn Crawford, Charlotte Spencer and Charles Linehan.

 

As well as performing, Hannah has trained as a sports therapist and now works as a dance teacher and choreographer at Encore School of Dancing and other local schools. Hannah joined Tangled Dance Company in 2014 performing on the Once Upon A Twisted Tale tour and remains with the company for new exciting ventures.

Charlotte Jones
Dancer & Workshop Leader

Charlotte trained at The Northern School of Contemporary Dance, graduating in 2017. Since graduating Charlotte has performed in various works including A stage (in-between) Joan Cleville, site specific performance with The Collective Individuals at The Corn Exchang Leeds, ‘Raised’ and ‘Gender’ at Yorkshire Dance (2017 & 2018), ‘A Moment of Support’ live improvisation & site specific solo performance. Charlotte has extensive teaching experience and is a well established Yoga teacher delivering various sessions to Adults and Children of all ages; Charlotte is the founder of Amala Movement, established in 2018, https://www.amalamovement.com

 

Charlotte joined Tangled in 2018 in the studio learning company repertory for various productions. 2019 sees Charlotte’s first year performing and delivering workshops as part of the Tangled team.

Kayleigh Price
Dancer

Kayleigh is a homegrown northern dancer, originally from Manchester. She trained at The Northern School of Contemporary Dance, graduating with a First Class Degree in 2013. She went on to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in VERVE (2013-2014) touring works internationally by Gemma Nixon, Jonathan Goddard, Ben Duke, Lea Anderson, Jamaal Burkmar.

 

Kayleigh went on to perform works by leading choreographers/companies including; Rachel Clarke ‘White Noise’ (2019), Rationale Productions (2016-present), ACE Dance & Music (2018), Rees Dance (2016-present), Phoenix Dance Theatre (2017), Balbir Singh Dance Company ‘Triple bill’; ‘Synchronised’, ‘Building Site’, ‘Krebs’ (2015).

 

Kayleigh joined Tangled Dance Company in 2019 as a dancer in a leading female role of Once Upon A Twisted Tale and will also perform in a new role in Frosted by Magic in 2019.

Craig Frangleton
Composer & Musician; guitarist

Craig studied a degree in Popular Music & Recording at Salford University, where he majored in composition and musicology, then continuing on to study composition as a masters. Craig is one of the co-ordinators of two Manchester bands exploring his own compositions and various artistic collaborations. Craig’s compositions often intersect contemporary classical and progressive/technical electric guitar based music, he also works with recording and orchestrating extended multi-movement suites for multiple guitars.

 

Craig has worked with Tangled Dance Company since 2014 exploring improvisation with live dancers and composed and recorded soundtracks for Once Upon A Twisted Tale, Spilled Ink, Concrete Sofa and Frosted by Magic.

Rebekah Reid
Composer & Musician; Violinist

Rebekah is a vibrant and versatile violinist. Since graduating from the Royal Northern College of Music with honours in 2012, Rebekah has been involved in a wide range of professional engagements including performances in variety of contemporary and experimental ensembles. Her solo and orchestral achievements have allowed her to perform in prestigious venues across the UK, Europe and Asia. Alongside her performances in the classical music world, Rebekah is involved in a number of cross-over collaborations and projects. She performs regularly with the jazz ensemble: 'The Forgotten Fairground Project', and last year recorded an EP of live improvisations. She released 'Dance Dance Dance!', a track on the EP, as a single in March 2015 on the online digital music platform Bandcamp.com. Rebekah joined Tangled in 2015 in Once Upon A Twisted Tale, since then she has composed original scores and performed live in Whispers Of A Christmas Tale and Frosted by Magic.

Georgia Brown
Workshop Leader & Workshop Photographer

Georgia met the company as a student when training at Pendleton Sixth Form College in Musical Theatre. She worked with Tangled as a supporting cast member in ‘Whispers Of A Christmas Tale’ in 2016 and then joined the company in a work experience role assisting at 2017 Twisted Tale Workshops. Georgia took on the role of Dance Captain as part of the supporting cast in ‘Frosted by Magic’ 2017 working closely with the leading artists and Director.

 

In 2018 Georgia joined the company as a Workshop Leader and trainee Photographer on Twisted Tale Workshops; she now works in both these roles during summer sessions. She also took on the temporary role of Marketing Administrator as part of the company development.Georgia also has independent teaching experience and works as a cover teacher for Tangled’s weekly children’s classes, TWIST Dance.
